JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced research associate to support our research and evaluation team. The ideal candidate will share our values and will work in the Berkeley office on a variety of evaluation, assessment, and strategic planning projects. The candidate will also support urban planning projects in the future. Candidates should have a Master’s degree (or higher) in public health, sociology, anthropology, psychology, public policy, social work, education, or other related field. Our ideal candidate would have a dual degree in both public health and city and regional planning. The candidate will work both independently and on project teams.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and implement process and outcome evaluations (experience with developmental evaluation a plus)
Manage a range of projects, including strategic planning, assessments, and evaluation
Manage a range of budgets, timelines, and scopes of work
Oversee key project deliverables, including report writing
Manage and support project teams
Facilitate client meetings
Present data findings in a range of settings
Provide technical assistance in evaluation and planning to support client capacity building
IDEAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree (or higher) in public health, sociology, anthropology, psychology, public policy, social work, education, or other related field. Our ideal candidate would have a dual degree in both public health and city and regional planning.
Three to five years related professional experience in the public, non-profit, and/or private sectors
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience working in and conducting research with linguistically and culturally diverse populations and in diverse and low-income communities
Experience developing and implementing a range of quantitative and qualitative research methods (including survey development, interviews, focus groups), experience with participatory research methods a plus – e.g., CBPR, PAR, etc.
Experience conducting evaluation, assessment, and strategic planning projects
Experience managing research and/or evaluation projects
Ability to manage multiple project deadlines
Strong consulting skills (e.g., anticipates challenges, able to identify solutions, builds strong relationships with coworkers and clients)
Knowledge of and experience using ArcGIS, experience with other data visualization techniques a plus
Knowledge of and experience using Atlas.ti
Knowledge of and experience using Stata or SPSS
High professional level of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Fluent in Spanish (writing and spoken) or other language preferred

SALARY
The salary is negotiable but is expected to be between $60,000 and $75,000, depending on skills and prior experience.
