From serving neighborhood business districts, to helping the next generation of entrepreneurs in our community, the Office of Economic Development does the research and problem solving needed to build a thriving economy for our residents, businesses and visitors.

This paid internship will involve a variety of assignments related to planning for expanded communications and transportation infrastructure in Berkeley.

Duties and Tasks:
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative research to support the development of reports, presentations and publications.
• Research best practices for communications infrastructure planning in other communities.
• Create GIS maps of existing communication and transportation assets and stakeholders.
• Create and maintain tools for business attraction and retention, including demographic profiles, maps, and marketing materials.
• Research transportation Provide support to business improvement districts and merchants associations across the City.
• Support staff activities to provide targeted services to specific industry clusters (e.g., Food manufacturing). This may include communications, research, event support, and network building.
• Additional duties as assigned.
