LSA’s Berkeley office is seeking an Environmental Planner. LSA has prepared the environmental documentation for some of the Bay Area’s most significant developments, including Apple Campus 2 in Cupertino, the Children’s Hospital Master Plan in Oakland, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Expansion, the San Francisco General Hospital Rebuild Project, and the Bay Trail to Lake Merritt Bike/Pedestrian Bridge, to name a few. We believe that CEQA is the test of well-designed, self-mitigating projects. LSA encourages and provides training in technical subjects and CEQA.

The Berkeley office of LSA is located on the west side of town, within walking distance of Fourth Street shops, and just north of the Bay Trail and the Bike/Pedestrian Bridge over I-80. LSA is a stable employee-owned organization. The firm’s principals have an average tenure of 20 years and many started as entry-level employees. Opportunities for advancement are open to those with technical expertise, managerial skills, business development acumen, and passion. LSA offers competitive pay; medical, dental, vision, LTD, long-term care, group life/AD&D insurance plans; vacation, sick, and holiday pay; an LSA funded Employee Stock Ownership Plan; and a Profit Sharing and Savings Plan (with 401k and company match). LSA is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer and we participate in E-Verify. Please visit our website www.lsa-assoc.com for more information.

The ideal candidate for the Environmental Planner position will have 2 to 4 years of professional experience with an emphasis on environmental planning. Direct experience with preparation of CEQA/NEPA documents is preferred. The Environmental Planner will provide support to Project Managers throughout all aspects of environmental review and will be responsible for writing the non-technical sections of EIR’s, IS/MND’s and other similar documents. Candidates require experience writing environmental review documents and conducting environmental analysis. The position will also include assistance with proposal preparation.

A bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental studies, regional planning, or a related field is required. Strong emphasis will be placed on previous technical experience, quality of work, and the ability to manage project budgets and schedules. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential. Opportunities for advancement are open for highly-motivated and capable candidates.
