Marstel-Day, LLC is seeking a temporary (over the course of three to four weeks) employee to assist in performing a truck license plate survey for the Port of Oakland. As part of an economic impact analysis of activities associated with the Port’s drayage (freight transport) truck fleet, Marstel-Day is undertaking this license plate survey to accurately profile the truck fleet by age. The employee would work for eight days (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays only), that would be scheduled at the end of October and through at least the first two weeks in November, to record truck license plates either with digital image or voice dictation recording. Surveys would take place in the Port maritime area, at the truck entrance/exit gates of each of the eight active marine terminals. Surveys on each of the eight days would take place between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm (from 8 to 9 hours of work per day). Work is anticipated to start the last week in October (October 27) and potentially last through November 25. Further background on the truck surveys is provided on the attached, first page of the Scope of Work.
Candidates should be very skilled in attending to detail, and have the ability to perform surveys (under supervision as well as independently, as suitable) lasting four hours each in out-of-doors (and potentially inclement weather) conditions. Candidates can expect to receive training in the survey protocol, as well as be provided the equipment required for surveying duties. The hourly wage would be between $17 and $21 per hour.

WRT's San Francisco office is seeking a planning professional with substantial experience preparing and managing specific plans, corridor plans, neighborhood plans, and redevelopment plans. The ideal candidate will have a broad planning background that could also include work on general plans, form-based codes, design guidelines, parks and open space plans, environmental documents, etc. The planner must have the ability to work independently on concurrent projects as well as prior experience managing complex and interdisciplinary planning efforts. The position is primarily oriented toward policy-based planning, however competence in physical planning, geospatial analysis, and urban design will be fundamental to all projects. Design training, effective graphic and oral communication skills, and experience working with design teams are all highly desirable, though strong writing and editing skills are essential.
Skills/Requirements
The position requires a combination of the following:
Master's degree in city, urban or regional planning or a related field is preferred
3 – 8 years of experience in the field of city, urban or regional planning (consulting experience preferred)
Experience managing specific plan projects
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), ESRI ArcGIS 9.x (ArcMap and ArcCatalog required/Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst preferred), and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop)
Duties may include plan and ordinance writing; land use, demographic, economic, and environmental policy research; spatial and non-spatial data collection and analysis; graphic communication; public meeting facilitation; project management; proposal preparation; etc.
